Yachting gold medallist takes on another sailing challenge

Local yachtswoman Jackie Patton along with other Ballyholme Yacht Club members Michael Ferguson and “Hammy” Baker has qualified to compete in the iconic Rolex Fastnet Yacht race (albeit in different yachts). Starting next Sunday 16th   August from the Royal Ocean Racing Club Cowes, the Fastnet is rated as the world’s largest and most notorious offshore race. Competitors, many of which are professional, ex Americas Cup crew and Olympians have had to qualify by achieving an ISAF offshore yachting qualification in addition to participating in two qualifying races. Each boat crew are expected to have competed in a minimum of 300 nautical miles together.

Entry to thr RYA NI Youth Championships and NI Schools Cup is now available online.  This is Northern Ireland's premier Youth and Junior Sailing event in the calendar and will be hosted at Royal North of Ireland Yacht Club on 26th & 27th September 2015.
