After being beaten for the first time by second overall, Xavier LECLAIR (FRA), in the first race of the day Bret BAYER (AUS) surprised everyone, including himself, by capsizing on the last down wind leg allowing LECLAIR into the lead again. This time BEYER was able to pass LECLAIR on the next reach to post his eighth win.

The Apprentice Radial could go down to the last of the two races due to be sailed on the final day as Steve COCKERILL and Mark ORAMS once again shared the first and second places after both had to overcome Carlos WANDERLEY'S 50 metre lead at the half way stage of the first race.

In the 20 to 22 knot winds there was new faces at the front of the standard masters in the second race of the day when Gonzalo CAMPERO (ARG) was leading home series leader Nurray THOM. THOM'S tiller extension parted company with it's tiller in on the last short windward leg causing THOM to drop to sixth - a result that he can count and still wins overall in the largest fleet with two races to go.

In the Grand Masters standard rig John DAWSON-EDWARDS (CAN) finally managed to hold on to a well earned to get his first bullet of the series ahead of Mark BETHWAITE (AUS) who took the first race of the day. BETHWAITE, the overall winner, said 'John got out in front and just flew'.

The 24 strong Great Grand Master fleet, (over 65 years), is providing some of the more competitive racing in the strong winds. Kerry WARAKER (AUS) has to sail at least one race on the last day to stay clear of Peter SEIDENBERG. He may have to sail both.
