Beth Lygoe is hoping to make a dream come true by being St. Lucia's first sailor at an Olympic Sailing Competition.
The Laser Radial sailor, who started sailing aged 12, is already moving into unknown territory for St. Lucian sailing as she will represent her nation at the Olympic Test Event at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy in Great Britain and at the Perth 2011 ISAF Sailing World Championships.

"It would make me extremely proud to fly the St. Lucian flag," said Lygoe. "It is a dream for everyone and obviously it is my dream and I hope to make a dream come true."

The ISAF Sailing World Cup has been the perfect platform for Lygoe to get some experience in the build up to Perth 2011 and she recently finished 24th in Kieler-Woche.

She added, "We don't have a lot of sailors in St. Lucia so it is a challenge to sail with the best in the world. Getting in the big fleet at Kieler-Woche was the next step of my training."
