International Balaton Sailing Week 2005
Balaton, Hungary

Well over 100 sailors from four nations competed in the nine classes at the ISAF Grade 3 Balaton Sailing Week in Hungary, which came to a conclusion yesterday.
After struggling against bad weather for most of the week the final two days in Balaton brought the good conditions everyone had been hoping for. However the end of final day yesterday eventually succumbed to the rain and lack of wind that had affected the beginning of the event, meaning only two of the scheduled three races could be completed.

In the Olympic classes the massive contingent of Hungarian sailors came out on top. Only in the Laser Radial did Slovenia's Mojca ZAGERNIK break their stranglehold of the top three places by finishing second. However she could not match Matis KLAUDIA (HUN) who sailed a superb series to win seven of the ten races. The competition in the Laser was close, but victory in the end went to Berecz ZSOMBOR (HUN). In the Star, Tenke TIBOR and Bendicsek JÓZSEF (HUN) secured another bullet in yesterday's first race to take the title, whilst Pallay TIBOR (HUN) was also in control of the Finn fleet. Also dominant were Sallai GÁBOR and Olosz DÁVID (HUN) in the 470, while Szépfy MARCI and Sükösd BALÁZS came out on top of the 49er fleet, which only managed to complete three races.
