An Emphatic Win By Croatia

470 Junior World Championship

It was a great day for the Croations yesterday, the final day of the 2004 470 Junior World Championship, when they won the gold and the bronze medal.

In second place overall was the Polish team of Piasecki and Przbylak and in fourth place the Australian team of Nathan OUTTERIDGE and Ayden MENZIES.

The phenomenal achievement of Ante and Kujundzic meant they sat out the final race. The team had won ten of the thirteen races and discarded a DNS and their fourth position in race 12.

Finally a big "Complimenti" for the host Club "Fraglia Vela Riva" the Race Office, the excellent work by the Race Committee on the water and the Measurer Committee. The sailing conditions and the possibilities of the host club were at a high standard.

Lithuania's Juozas Bernotas came out on top in the Men's RS:X whilst Russia's Stefania Elfutina was triumphant in the Women's RS:X. Both sailors claim the first Abu Dhabi ISAF Sailing World Cup Final spots whilst Jock Calvert (AUS) and Joanna Sterling (AUS) picked up the Oceanic spots for the Emirati finale.

A tight group of five young Papua New Guinean (PNG) Laser sailors are stepping up their 2015 Pacific Games competition program using this week's ISAF Sailing World Cup Melbourne. PNG is one of 33 countries represented at the important Oceanic event, the largest Olympic sailing regatta in the southern hemisphere.
