Volos, Greece

Hungary's Zoltan PEGAN won the 2007 IFDS International Multihull Championship after a nail-biting finish with the defending champion Val MILWARD (GBR). Twenty-two entries from ten nations participated in Volos, Greece at the second IFDS International event using the Challenger Class trimaran.

Entries ranged from Argentina, Canada and the USA as well as Europe. The regatta was hosted by the Maistrali Sailing Club based at the Argonautical Park, 20 km southeast of Volos, in an excellent newly-built facility. Ten races were completed in widely varying sea and wind conditions which provided a challenging competition.

The event was won by PEGAN, closely followed by 2006 champion MILWARD. These two traded places at the top of the leaderboard throughout the series, but ultimately it was the Hungarian's more consistent scoring which won out. George DELIKOURAS (GRE) took the bronze medal.

This was an outstanding event made even more memorable by the support that was provided by a team of totally committed volunteers.
