Sweden's Anna KJELLBERG and her Carpe Diem Beds Sailing Team have qualified for the quarter final stage

ISAF Women's Match Racing World Championship 2009
Lysekil, Sweden

French defending champion Claire LEROY and local star Anna KJELLBERG of Sweden finished on top at the end of the second day of round robin racing at the ISAF Women's Match Racing World Championship in Lysekil.
The first round robin of the ISAF Women's Match Racing World Championship is nearing its conclusion after the second day of racing in Lysekil. Anna KJELLBERG of Sweden and Claire LEROY of France are leading the competition with only one loss each. That score line guarantees the two leaders, as well as Sweden's Marie BJORLING, a place in the quarter finals.

Swedish local KJELLBERG and French double World Champion LEROY won all their matches today putting them on the top of the leaderboard. Three matches remain for the World Champion LEROY and two for KJELLBERG in the first round robin, but regardless of the result they are sure to make it to the quarter finals. BJÖRLING from Sweden lost one of her four matches today and therefore stays close behind on the leaderboard.

Today was filled with both joy and disappointment for the many Swedish spectators and fans as reigning champion of Lysekil Linda RAHM (SWE), ranked #4 on the Women's ISAF World Match Racing Rankings, only won one of her matches today and will not make it to the quarter finals.

Five teams will fight for the last three places to the quarter finals. With today's scoreboard it looks good for the two Danish teams of Lotte MELDGAARD PEDERSEN and Camilla ULRIKKEHOLM. The Danes are used to the DS37 boat used her and have both sailed convincingly during these first two days. The Australian teams with skippers Katie SPITHILL and Nicky SOUTER, as well as American Sally BARKOW also have a chance to proceed to the quarter finals.
