ISAF Secretariat

ISAF would like to pay tribute to Simon Forbes, ISAF Technical and Offshore Manager, for whom Thursday 18 March 2010 will mark 25 years of service at the ISAF Secretariat.
After completing the Yacht and Boat Design Course at Southampton Institute, Simon joined the Secretariat of the International Yacht Racing Union (IYRU) on 18 March 1985 as Assistant Measurer. In 1989 he became one of two Technical Officers in the new Technical Department, and later Technical Manager.

In 1998, Simon was awarded an ISAF Silver Medal to recognize his significant and long lasting contribution to the International Sailing Federation. Throughout his time at ISAF, when not dealing with technical or political issues in the office, Simon has remained a dedicated and passionate sailor with a particular love for all things multihull (particularly his Dragonfly 'Scooby').

ISAF Secretary General Jerome Pels said, "Everyone at the ISAF would like to offer their congratulations and thanks to Simon - 25 years is an incredible effort. His technical knowledge, sense of humour and sheer passion for the sport have been a huge asset to ISAF. Here's to the next 25 years!"

Simon's 25 years at ISAF include…

1 ISAF centenary
