In accordance with the Constitution, the election process for the President is conducted prior to the Annual General Meeting. At the close of the nomination on 10 June 2010, the only nominee, Dr Ben Tan took office of the President unopposed. Dr Ben Tan, Head and Senior Consultant, Changi Sports Medicine Centre Medical Director and Senior Consultant, Singapore Sports Medicine Centre, is no stranger to Singapore Sailing. He served as Deputy President last year and played an instrumental role in Singapore Sailing's High Performance Strategic Committee to create the blueprint which has helped Singapore sailors achieved 14 world titles since 2005.

Dr Loh Kok Hua, previously Vice President, has been elected Deputy President. Kok Hua represented Singapore at the 1975 South East Asia Peninsular (SEAP) Games and 1993 SEA Games. He served at the Republic of Singapore Air Force for 29 years and retired from his last held position as Brigadier General in 2002. He is currently the Chief Ops Analyst at the DSO National Laboratories. Together with his engineering mind, Kok Hua brings to Singapore Sailing his experience in running large operations and organisations with military discipline and precision.

Mr Rodney Tan and Ms Mok Kah Mun, departing from their Honorary Treasurer and Deputy Honorary Treasurer positions, have returned to serve as Vice Presidents. Rodney was the first batch of national sailors, he represented Singapore at the 1970 Asian Games. He was also part of the team with Ng Ser Miang which revived the Optimist class in Singapore. They formed the Optimist Dinghy Association of Singapore (ODAS), the predecessor of the National Optimist Sailing Scheme (NOSS). Rodney sailed with our old guard, his son went through Singapore Sailing's sailing pathway. He is keen to increase participation levels in our sport, adopting a more wholesome approach, leaving no sailor behind. Rodney wants to pay more attention to previously laggard areas such as windsurfing and cruising. He believes that there is more to the sport than just medals. As a Council Member of the Singapore Kindness Movement, improved communication with stakeholders and sportsmanship are also on Rodney's agenda. Rodney also brings with him his rich corporate experience and network.

Kah Mun, an avid keelboat sailor who often participates in overseas regattas, has a keen interest in raising the profile of keelboat sailing in Singapore, and attracting more people to our sport. A lawyer by training and a banker by profession, she now runs her own business.

New to the Executive Committee is Mr Rupert Ong as Vice President. Rupert is currently an Associate Director in the Conveyancing and Property Department at PKWA Law Practice LLC, and also the former editor of ChangiLog. He is a familiar face at various clubs as he sails multiple classes, from Lasers to catamarans to keelboats. The former President of the Singapore Laser fleet adds energy to the team, with his creative problem-solving skills and refreshing approach. Despite being occupied with his law practice, Rupert continues to coach at SAFYC.?

Making a return to the Executive Committee is Mr Tan Hua Chiow in the capacity of Deputy Honorary Treasurer. Hua Chiow served as Vice-President (Dinghy) under Singapore Sailing's predecessor Singapore Yachting Association during former Presidents' - Ng Ser Miang, Peter Lim and Ong Siong Kai - tenures (1988 to 1995). He has been tirelessly promoting sailing since his days as a Navy officer, teaching our cadets how to sail and helping SAFYC in its tremendous growth path. Not only is he a sailor, yacht master, instructor, club manager, Senior National Race Officer, he also busies himself building marinas in the region. Singapore Sailing will benefit from his energy and enthusiasm. He is currently the Head of Marina Project Development at SUTL Marina Consultancy Pte Ltd.??

Veteran Treasurer Tan Chian Kong, having served the maximum number of terms permissible, resumes his role as Treasurer which he held from 2000 to 2009. Chian Kong is currently a Partner at Ernst & Young Singapore and now returns to continue to keep our books healthy.??

Mr Edwin Low, Executive Director of Singapore Sailing remains as the Secretary-General. The advisor(s) and co-opted member(s) will be nominated by the Executive Committee at their first meeting on 13 July 2010.
