Star European Championship
Yacht Club Italiano, Genoa

Olympic Gold Medallist Mark Reynolds and crew Austin Sperry have moved into top spot after yesterday's third race.
The 65 competitors at the Star European Championships added a third race to their scores yesterday resulting in a change at the top.

In the light conditions, victory in race three went to Max Treacy and Anthony Shanks of Ireland who managed to fend off world champions and team GBR sailors Iain Percy and Steve Mitchell, who were back up to speed with their repaired light weather mainsail.

Scoring a fourth place, triple Olympian Mark Reynolds, sailing with Austin Sperry, moved to the top of the scoreboard, closely followed by Fredrik Loof/Andres Ekstrom of Sweden who scored their worst result of the regatta so far, a thirteenth place.

Third place overall goes to Niklas Holm/Martin Leifelt of Denmark with the 2002 world bronze medallists Xavier Rohart/Yannick Adde of France in fourth place.

Racing continues through until Friday 11 October, with Thursday scheduled as a reserve day, although as the championship is a race behind schedule this may not be the case.

Overall Results after 3 Races

2. Fredrik Loof/Andres Ekstrom (SWE) - 1, 3, 13 - 17 pts
