European Team Racing Championship
Denia, Alicante

The first European Team Racing Championship, started yesterday in Spain, with the beginning of the first round robin, in which all eight teams will sail against each other.
The event, which sees eight of the best European teams pitched against each other, will provide a useful guide as to the form expected at the forthcoming ISAF World Team Racing Championships in Auckland in January 2003.

Racing started at two in the afternoon yesterday with a light south westerly breeze in which ten flights of the first round were sailed. Early leaders are proving to be the GBR 1 team, who won all three of their races to take an early lead into the second day today.

Second placed at the moment is the GBR 2 team on two wins and Czech 2 with two out of two wins. Racing continues at 11 a.m. local time today and should see the remainder of the first round robin matches completed.
