The South easterly trade winds resumed after the short postponement at 1140 local time the third race of the championship got underway in very light breezes as the last of the stormy weather dissipated. Racing amongst the leaders was incredibly tight, Four different leaders over the period of the race saw the first mark leader, Tejas (Mark Foster, Farley Fontenot & Keith Fowler), eventually taking the gun with Chunder (Terry Flynn, Randy Borges & Paul Grenauer) in second place. Day one regatta leader Ian Anslie could only manage a thirtieth in the light winds of the first race on day two.

The fleet was all clear in race five as the wind clocked round to the right and built as it did so. Grumpy Old Men (Bill Drahiem, Scott Self & Jim Bookhout) led for the vast majority of the race but at the finish it was Marvin Beckmann, Chris Klein & Scott Cheaey who took the gun. Draheim was second and Greg Fisher, Jeff Elber, Jo Ann Jones & Kaven Elber got their second third of the day, proving consistent in difficult conditions.

The wind continued to shift to the right and was at southeasterly when the third race of the day, and the sixth race of the championship started. In a steady breeze, Rob Johnston, Stephen Andre & John Skiles on Dieselsnack won, followed by the consistent Slo-Poke (Eric Faust, John Greening & Bonner Cordelle) who, although having yet to win a race, are now leading the overall championship with three races to go.

With light northerly winds forecast for the next few days, it is good to see two thirds of the regatta completed.
