Meetings Start Tomorrow

ISAF Mid-Year Meetings 2005

Stockholm, Sweden

The 2005 ISAF Mid-Year Meetings for the ISAF Council, Audit Committee, Events Committee and Executive Committee get underway in Stockholm, Sweden tomorrow. Meetings will be taking place from 12-16 May with the Executive Committee Meeting starting tomorrow morning at 1000 hours local time.

The Executive Committee, headed by ISAF President Göran PETERSSON (SWE), meet tomorrow, Friday and on the final day of meetings, Monday. The Events Committee, chaired by Bjorn UNGER (SWE), meet on Friday. Also meeting on Friday will be the Audit Committee, chaired by Joe BUTTERFIELD (NZL). The ISAF Council, again headed by ISAF President, Göran PETERSSON, meet on Saturday and Sunday.

During the Meeting period, ISAF and Sanpellegrino will be hosting an Awards Presentation and Dinner on 13 May where the 2005 ISAF Beppe Croce Trophy will be presented to former ISAF President, Paul HENDERSON (CAN).

Lithuania's Juozas Bernotas came out on top in the Men's RS:X whilst Russia's Stefania Elfutina was triumphant in the Women's RS:X. Both sailors claim the first Abu Dhabi ISAF Sailing World Cup Final spots whilst Jock Calvert (AUS) and Joanna Sterling (AUS) picked up the Oceanic spots for the Emirati finale.

A tight group of five young Papua New Guinean (PNG) Laser sailors are stepping up their 2015 Pacific Games competition program using this week's ISAF Sailing World Cup Melbourne. PNG is one of 33 countries represented at the important Oceanic event, the largest Olympic sailing regatta in the southern hemisphere.
