Air Niugini Coral Sea Classic

Townsville blue water yacht racing skipper Clive Scott valued his long term experience of racing on the demanding Coral Sea
He piloted his Farr 1106 Harrier to a 1 point win in the International Air Niugini Coral Sea Classic in Port Moresby yesterday.

Scott and his ageing Farr 1106 Harrier was a remarkably consistent performer generating the required boat speed from the race strategy applied by her crew of Townsville sailors to beat the Royal Papua Yacht Club sloops Racketeer (Andrew Thompson) and API Midnight (Laurie Needham). The result went down to the final leg of the 25 n/ml race on Fairfax Harbour yesterday when Harrier capitalised on a late change in wind velocity to record the fastest corrected time and her third win in six races.
