Tutta Trieste Nations Cup

Semi finals suspended between Cayard and Chieffi
Due to the light wind blowing over Trieste for the last few days, the semi final of the Nations Cup between Paul Cayard (Oracle 1, USA) and Tommaso Chieffi (Oracle 2, ITA) was suspended with the temporary result remaining at one match each, with Cayard winning the first and Chieffi the second. The helmsman and tactics of the Moro Di Venezia of 1992, are together again on the Oracle racing team of the new economy magnate Larry Ellison that will race in the next Americas Cup. The semi final should finish tomorrow starting at around 1pm.

This morning however, the series of recuperated races took place, the first between Mascalzone Latino of Paolo Cian (ITA) and Sailing Planet of Furio Benussi (ITA). After the victory of Cian yesterday, Benussi took the first race of the morning, then Cian went on to win the second, gaining him victory for a place in the next round valid for the third place. These races were followed by the confrontation between Alinghi Swiss Challenger entrusted to Murray Jones (NZL) and Brad Butterworth, current holders of the Americas Cup, and the Slovenian team of Mitija Kosmina. It was in fact a surprise result, seeing the Slovenians winning by a 2-0 margin giving them access to a place in the next round also valid for the third place. Tomorrow in programme at the Nations Cup starting at 10 am, will see the races between Kosmina and Paolo Cian take place followed by the races between Cayard and Chieffi.
