Eight races are completed as scheduled and wind speeds have varied between 10 to 14 knots at the competition taking place in Aboukir Bay, Alexandria, Egypt.
Colin Cheng (Singapore) has established a strong lead with 14 points. He came in 2nd in three successive races (races 6,7 and 8). The Algerian
Lalaoui Abdallah is lying second with 27 points. In race 6, he fell to position 33). Another Algerian
Bourai Tayab occupies the third position with 36 points (he was OCS in race 8).
Carla Dyer (South Africa) is 11th overall and first girl with 86 points. Second girl is her compatriot
Phillipa Bear in 15th overall with 118 points in a hard competition with the Egyptian
Dina Ramadan, 16 overall and 3rd girl with 119 points.
Proud organiser Essam El-Bokl said:"My son Mohab Came in first place in race 7 and jumped to the 12th position and my other son Ziad (also the youngest sailor) came 4th in race
6."
47 sailors from nine countries - ALG, EGY, MAR, RSA, SEY, TUN and ZIM plus UAE and Singapore - are entered.
Today is a day off and the organisers have arranged trips to Cairo and Alexandria.
