RYA Yachtmaster Offshore

RYA Yachtmaster Offshore Preparation Week

The RYA Yachtmaster Offshore is an intensive course to prepare an experienced sailor for the Yachtmaster Offshore Practical exam, which will lead to an RYA / MCA Certificate of Competence, which is recognised by maritime authorities worldwide. The Yachmaster Offshore is the most popular qualification for professional sailors in the world.
Prior to the Yachtmaster preparation course  you should complete the Yachtmaster shore-based course and sailed for a minimum of 2500 sea miles, including 5 passages over 60 miles and at least two of them as Skipper and two at night. It is not enough to have been on lots of passages only in the Mediterranean or Ocean crossings unless you were actively navigating and making decisions as a Skipper. You will need to have the VHF and First Aid qualification, which we can provide (see below).

The courses start 6pm Sunday and the exams are usually on the Friday finishing late at night, sometimes the early hours of Saturday morning.  Whilst our Principal Jim Field is an examiner, it will be an independent RYA examiner that assesses you.
