Our biggest investment is channelled into getting more people active. Below shows the full breakdown of how we spend that money.

Glossary

National Governing Bodies of sportdevelop programmes that address the specific problems that are stopping people from playing and create opportunities through sport-specific whole sport plans.

Youth programmes – our sport development work for young people is a significant part of our current strategy. Programmes include Sportivate, which gives 14-25 year-olds access to six-to-eight weeks' of free or subsidised coaching in a range of sports, and our Satellite Clubs programme.

School sport and School Games – our investment into school sport and the annual Sainsbury’s School Games provides competition in different formats to make it more attractive and accessible for young people, irrespective of experience, talent or ability.

County Sports Partnerships – networks of local agencies that are committed to working together to increase the number of people taking part in sport and physical activity.

This Girl Can – our nationwide campaign to get women and girls moving, regardless of shape, size and ability.

Doorstep clubs – working in partnership with StreetGames, we have set up 307 Doorstep Sports Clubs and engage over 118,000 young people living in some of England’s most disadvantaged communities.

Other participation programmes

Primary Spaces – this funding stream is our commitment to improving primary school Physical Education (PE), sport and activity facilities.

Health programmes – Get Healthy, Get Active supports projects committed to tackling the causes of ill health by getting more people playing more sport and increasing overall levels of physical activity.
