RYA Cymru Wales’s squad system has been in place for over 15 years and is based at the National Watersports Centre; Plas Menai, National Events Centre; Pwllheli and more recently in clubs around south Wales.
The National Squad programme has a proud history with current and ex World Champions, Olympic medalists and national coaches having been through the programme.
Whilst providing a pathway to reach the very top of international competition and Olympic class sailing for those that so desire, our squads also equip sailors with many important life skills, travel and opportunities to make new friends from all over the UK.
Our squad system is funded by the RYA and Sport Wales and we work in conjunction with both parties to ensure our athletes get the best support possible to increase the chances of their success.
The squad application process runs from July to September.
