Less than 200 miles from Sydney, the leading three teams, still spearheaded by illbruck, are sailing up the New South Wales coast at 12 knots in the 25 knot south-southeasterly breeze.
John Kostecki's team is still holding a nine mile advantage over Gurra Krantz's SEB. In third place, News Corp is 40 miles down with less than 24 hours of the leg remaining.

But Jez Fanstone's team has not given up on the possibility of moving up a position. "illbruck and SEB are in touch and we can get back to them as we have done over the past few days. We're quick in these conditions and hoping to be able to pull back more miles. The others are a long way back but we still have to watch ourselves," wrote navigator Ross Field earlier.

The only other realistic place change is between fourth and fifth. Only five miles separate Amer Sports One and djuice with Grant Dalton currently holds the upper hand.
