YANG scored 26 points and beat his two Singaporean compatriots, Peter WONG on 28 and Mark WONG on 37. Seems Singapore is on the march in the class, having just won the Teams event at the Optimist Worlds in Uruguay - the first ever time ever for an Asian team.

Mathew WEARN (AUS) was top Australian with a fifth placing, one spot away from the goal he set himself at the start of the event. Milly BENNETT (AUS) was the first girl finishing in eighth place.

Norway Take Open Title

In the Open Championship, Harald FASTE from Norway proved to be the competitor to beat, finishing on 21 points, five ahead of nearest rival Ko Chaun YANG from Singapore. Fellow Scandinavian Jakob KLITTE, on holiday in Australia from Sweden, finished in sixth position.

The green fleet Championship was dominated by KLITTE's sister Elin, who did not sail the last three races and was still nine points ahead of Charlotte DE LANGE (AUS).

Sons and daughters of sailings elite took to the water during this Championship, including Ollie WHARINGTON (AUS), son of ocean racing great Grant. Sailing with number 10 on his sail, the same as his Dad's super maxi Skandia, Ollie was sailing in his first major Championship and finished in 18th place.

With the tireless support of Steven BOND from Ozi Opti, the Championships proved to be a great success, with many juniors taking part in a major event for the first time.
