Sotic Digital Sports Agency - MatchDayStats - Team and Competition management

MatchDayStats

MatchDayStats is the core product used by our clients to drive the thousands of fixtures and events that are seamlessly integrated over hundreds of different websites run by Sotic and other agencies and supply the data to third parties via fully customisable feeds such as XML and JSON. Among the range of sports and tournaments that use versions of the system include The British & Irish Lions for every rugby game since 1888, International Sailing Federation for their World Rankings, Basketball GB for the national teams, European Rugby Cup for the Heineken Cup and Amlin Challenge Cup since both tournaments' inceptions and the Hong Kong Rugby Union for their player registration, fixture and tournament management. The intuitive MatchDayStats interface allows a range of modules to work with the core element including player management, fixture management, commissioner management, media accreditation, authentication approvals, judiciary management and tournament management.

User Levels

The system supports hierarchical administration and standard level users with additional permission management within these levels.

The following modules are an integral part of MatchDayStats:

Player Management

The platform comprehensively manages the registration of players at all levels allowing for individual and squad online registration and de-duplication tools so that any errors made during data entry can be repaired within seconds. Key functionality includes:

  • Player registration assigned to a club and a specific playing level
  • Collection of specified data such as playing statistics, contact details, courses attended and honours
  • Approval of each player's credential by relevant Governing Body
  • Ability to transfer players between clubs with prearranged approvals
  • Match and player statistics are stored against each player's individual ID. This ID is unique regardless of the level the player is playing (amateur/elite) or the Union and Club they play for.
  • Ability to export data to dedicated files such as PDF or Excel
  • Export data to integrated registration forms branded per Union for printing of registration/training documents

Club Management

The MatchDayStats database holds detailed information including home stadia, kit colours and contact details for key personnel. In addition there is the native handling of team name changes between seasons, ensuring that the correct name is shown on historic data. Key functionality includes:

  • Ability to amend club information, key personnel details, location map, amend team name and history
  • Ability to add and amend player details
  • To define their squad (which is evaluated against the defined rules)
  • To submit the relevant squads to the respective Union for approval
  • To submit player transfer details between Clubs/Unions with approval from FIRA-AER

Competition Management

Workflows and rules allow defined users to set-up complex competitions and tournaments. Each competition can be configured right down to the bonus point formulae and the league table ordering rules. Key functionality includes:

  • Creation of competition and tournaments with specific fixtures (including XIs, TAG and 7s, Juniors and Seniors) where match time can be allocated per fixture
  • Scheduling of fixtures within a specific time frame
  • Allocation of venue/pitch details • Creation of branded team sheets
  • Define rules relevant to the club and player registration and tournament terms and conditions
  • Define points formulae against fixtures/tournaments

Fixture and Event Management

Fixture and event management is a key part of MatchDayStats. In addition to all the features you would expect, we have included some useful additions such as pre-match team line-ups. This part of the system allows the squad to be expanded and/or multiple players assigned to the same position where there are, for example, late fitness tests. After the match the pre-match line-ups are automatically compared to the final line-ups, giving governing bodies an efficient way of highlighting any regulation breaches. The MatchDayStats live tracking interface has also benefited from our many years of experience in this area, offering a simple method to quickly record events and text commentary during the match. Key functionality includes:

  • Integration with MatchDayLive to deliver minute-by-minute results and commentary
  • Management of team line-ups
  • Submission/Approval of teams pre-fixtures
  • Fully integrated through feeds to Union websites

Commissioners Management

The Commissioners Management module allows tournament organisers to allocate and report on the officials overseeing fixtures. Key functionality includes:

  • Officials details can be added into the database and allocated across multiple Unions
  • Reports and stats created based on number of matches officiated, which games and at which venues
  • Match details such as red/yellow cards, citing details, attendance, and other match related information can also be defined against a match

Reporting

MatchDayStats also delivers advanced data reporting options, using our unique custom query builder that allows an infinite combination of queries and reports, each of which can be output in HTML, CSV, XML, PDF, JSON. In addition to supplying dynamic web content, these feeds can be used for media guides, press packs and player registration documentation.
