ISAF Match Race Rankings

The ISAF Match Racing Rankings for 17 June 2015 have been released.
Taylor Canfield (ISV) and Anna Kjellberg (SWE) have regained World #1 in the Open and Women's ISAF Match Race Rankings.

Open Rankings

Taylor Canfield (ISV) removes Ian Williams (GBR) from World #1 in the Open Rankings following his victory at the Congressional Cup.

Between them, the pair have shared World #1 since January 2012. Albeit Williams has held the spot for more releases, in recent months the position has gone to and fro and Canfield's victory at the Congressional Cup, compared to Williams' third places him back at the top.

The pair are more than 1,000 points clear of the chasing bunch.

Eric Monnin (SUI) moves to a personal best of World #3 following a solid second at Match Race Germany and a ninth at the Congressional Cup.

Tomislav Basic (CRO) moves up to World #12 following his victory at Match Race Germany. Although the Croatian is two places shy of his personal best of World #10, achieved February 2000, he is back in the big time after taking his Grade 1 victory since 2008.

Australia's Matthew Jerwood moves into the top 25 for the first time following four exceptional regatta results during the recent ranking period. Jerwood moves up from World #32 to World #19 following victory at the Grade 2 Szczecin Match Race and the Grade 2 Open Spring Cup. He took a second at the Grade 2 Royal Southern Match Race as well as a fourth at Match Race Germany.

Pierre Quiroga (FRA) is another mover in June. He won the ISAF Grade 3 May Sail in Antibes and finished second at the Grade 2 EUROSAF Match Racing, Open European Championship - Sails of White Nights - The National Congress Palace Cup 2015. As a result he sits at World #26, coming from World #37.

During the current period there were 80 Open Match Race Regattas, two Grade W, ten Grade 2, 26 Grade 3, 20 Grade 4 and 24 Grade 5. Plenty of changes are prevalent throughout.

Women's Rankings

The ISAF Match Race Rankings work on a 24-month rolling system whereby competitors count eight events in total, four from the most recent 12 months and four from up to 24 months ago. Events contested within 12 months of each ranking release count for double.

As a result of this system Camilla Ulrikkeholm (DEN) loses several thousand points from an exceptional 2013-2014 season. Anna Kjellberg (SWE) is the benefactor of the system as she moves to World #1.

Pauline Courtois (FRA) took the single women's match racing gold in the current period, the ISAF Nations Cup Regional Final for Europe. As a result, she moves to World #8.

Runner up Klaartje Zuiderbaan (NED) moves to World #7.

Up next for the women's match racers is the 2015 ISAF Women's Match Racing World Championship. This acts as the first stop of the Women's International Match Race Series where further points will be available throughout the year.
