National Champions!

We are into our last week of training in Weymouth before we pack up and go to Marseille, France for the World Championships!

So lots of rope work and spares to be made and packed up together along with all our best sails and wetsuits into the van and off to Europe! Kate has finally finished her university degree and final exams so we can totally concentrate on the upcoming championships.

Once in Marseille we will then have two weeks training in what hopefully will be the conditions that we will race in. The second week we will compete in the coaches regatta where all the main nations will line up for some practice races. Here we can make the last tweaks before the real championship starts.

We have just spent the bank holiday weekend at Weston Sailing Club for the National Championships where we got lots of race practice in, competing amongst the boys fleet as well as the FX fleet and we even managed to beat quite a few of them! It was great to line up on a real start line against other boats after training with just the three british girl boats for the summer. We had some great conditions with the wind up to 18 knots on Saturday. With the breeze coming off the land it was shifty and gusty which was geat practice for the stadium racing that might well be held close to shore at the world championships! Despite me putting my foot through the mainsail in the last race during where i went flying through the air during a capsize we managed to come away with the championship win.

We are pretty happy with how our training has been going over the summer but as always there is never enough time and there is still so much to learn about these amazing boats!
