Sat in the breakfast room having our cereal and toast with the team is a very work orientated affair.
Everyone eating while on laptops, downloading the weather forecasts for the day from Libby.
Transferring the all important data to wet notes in a scrawl that will be barely legible later but with the knowledge that she is always contactable during the day for updates.....
Training went well pre regatta, Giles in particular was dominant in the build up. Our 8 day training camp was mainly sailed in the doctor- a sea breeze that exceeds 20 knots each day. This week, for the regatta we are seeing weaker sea breezes and our course area is tight into a headland so the sea state is flat, and the breeze shifty.
Ed arrived later having attended world sailor of the year and had some really bad luck- whilst sailing up wind his carbon mast (that he won the worlds with) snapped. Just 1hr of sailing after the worlds!! So he is using a spare mast that has little tuning done to it- luckily the sails fit without any recutting
Forecasts look decent for the week, having had a day off to recover from training the guys seem fresh and ready for the event. Whilst this event is reasonably low key, with the trials process starting soon for the olympic slot, everyone wants to make their mark early.
