Since hanging up his sailing boots and swapping the trapeze of a high-performance skiff for the relative comfort of a coaching Rib, two-time Olympian Ben Rhodes is now leading the British Sailing Team’s Podium Potential 49er programme.  

Having represented Great Britain at two consecutive Olympic Games in Beijing 2008 and London 2012 with helmsman Stevie Morrison, Rhodes has spent the last twelve months paving the way for the next generation of British 49er sailors.  

We caught up with the former World Champion, who talks to us about the reasons for turning to coaching once his Olympic career came to an end, the challenges he has faced since taking up the reigns over 12 months ago, and offers advice for anyone considering a coaching role.
