Light and Fickle Day in Kiel
Written by Rick Peacock | 20 June 2010
One race for each fleet was completed for the 49ers today which ends the qualification series. The wind was light and fickle and the day started cloudy, with bright clear skies following after a postponement, ever changing into heavy rain storms.
We had to make a big come back just to finish 9th after a poor start. The race officer was very keen to get the race running on time which took us by surprise and we found ourselves a bit underprepared and not at the biased end of the start line. It is usually the way, when you are at the back wanting a long race with 3 laps to catch up the plan is for 2!
We however managed to keep our air as clean as possible, keep on the lifted tack and gained a few boats up both beats.
Onwards and upwards for tomorrow!
