A great start to the year

It is definitely a nice confidence boost to have started this year with our first ISAF World Cup gold medal in Miami.
We really enjoyed our first season together as Team 3,2,1 last year, so to almost pick up where we left off, get a first gold medal under our belts and then find out we are ranked World number one in the latest ISAF rankings gives us lots of reasons to feel positive going into our second season.
This was my first time in Miami, and it really was such a lovely three weeks. The rest of the team are used to it now, because they go every year, but I was quite excited!
The weather was much nicer than it was here for a start! The area we stayed in was really pretty too. But beyond that it was a really productive time, and the mood among all the British sailors was really upbeat. Everyone had had Christmas off and was excited to be back. There was a real mood that it was going to be a good year.
We were all staying in the same apartment block in Coconut Grove, which had a nice Jacuzzi and a swimming pool, so after sailing we could wallow in the hot tub for a while, as recommended by the physio of course! In the little downtime we did get we went to the cinema and malls but didn’t get to explore any further afield.
I wanted to go to the Everglades, and to see a manatee, but I didn’t manage to do either! But I did think we would be back next year so there is always another time.
