Ups and downs at the Worlds

It’s been a testing Worlds for us all, the conditions just haven’t played ball and we’ve been dealing with just too much wind or not any wind at all!

Luckily the last few days we were able to squeeze some racing in, although it is nowhere as much as we would have all liked to have done. It's quite a challenge mentally, one minute the wind had built and we’re forced off the course and the next the flags won’t even fly, it is hard to keep focussed and know that at some point in the day you can go out, when you have day after day with no sailing staying focussed on the job in hand can sometimes be hard to do when the schedule is so disjointed.

We only managed 5 races and then one finals race.  All in all I’m pretty pleased with my result (12th overall), it’s been a challenge to keep performing constantly so it's been a good experience to be thrown these conditions even if they are more than a little frustrating at times.

So now it's head down and back to Weymouth for the Skandia Sail for Gold Regatta in August.  We’ve got a couple of mini training camps with the GB squad in Weymouth and this is one of my main focuses this year.  We’ll competing on Olympic waters - that kind of experience is invaluable and we’re all going to be heading out to win and take on the rest of the world on our home turf, I can’t wait.
