Dorset Cereal Taste Testing
Written by Editor | 21 June 2011
Skandia Team GBR has been working with Dorset Cereal over the past few months to develop a high energy cereal bar to be launched in time for the Olympics in Weymouth and Portland next year.
The team there already produce a great range of cereals and cereal bars that keep both the sailors and support staff going at events. Their cereal range is so huge that our breakfasts often take longer than normal while we deliberate what the day’s choice will be!
The company is based just up the road from Weymouth and Portland in Dorchester (hence the name Dorset Cereals!) and yesterday Mandy Cooper, their Head of Communications and Cheryl Bouchier the creative guru behind the new recipe came to our performance unit with the first samples to see what the team thought. The almond and cranberry cereal bars have been developed by Dorset Cereals along with nutritionist Nathan Lewis from the English Institute of Sport as a tasty high energy snack suitable for both sailors and land lubbers alike.
The tasting was a resounding success with both the performance squad and support staff getting stuck in. Everyone gave the bars the thumbs up – one of our coaches even tried to squirrel away a few bars for a bike event he is competing in at the weekend! We also had the chance for a sneaky preview of the packaging for the cereal bars – a patriotic, sailing theme!
