Troon Yacht Haven receives RYA Active Marina flag

Troon Yacht Haven will soon be flying the RYA Active Marina flag

Troon Yacht Haven recently joined the RYA Active Marina programme, becoming the sixth marina in Scotland to fly the flag and work with RYA Scotland on this programme.

Stephen Bennie, Marina Manager and Director at Troon Yacht Haven commented:

“Here at Troon Yacht Haven we already run a busy programme of activities, training and social events both during the sailing season and through the winter so it really makes perfect sense to become part of the RYA Active Marina programme.

“Our sister marina, Largs Yacht Haven, was the first marina in Scotland to become part of the RYA Active Marina programme so it will be great to work together to deliver an action-packed season of events.

“Some of the things our berth holders can look forward to is specialist workshops with industry experts, a cruise in company to Port Bannatyne and also a summer BBQ so there will be plenty of opportunities to make the most of your boat and get to know other berth holders in the marina”.

The RYA Active Marina programme is all about providing a range of activities and training within marinas to encourage people to engage with their boats more often and to go to new places. The social side of the programme is extremely important too as it is such a big part of sailing and boating.

“The Cruise in Companies and summer BBQs are great ways to meet new people meaning you are more likely to see a familiar face when you are in the marina and out on the water. Saying hello, having a chat, sharing advice, arranging trips is something that RYA Scotland and the Active Marina programme wants to encourage everyone to do” said Claire Caffrey from RYA Scotland.

Troon Yacht Haven will be working with RYA Scotland to develop their Active Marina programme for the 2015 season and beyond. The detail of the events for the 2015 season are still being confirmed at the moment but will be available on the Troon Yacht Haven website and the RYA Scotland website very soon.
