Improved comments powered by Google+ - November 7
Now comments from people you care about will rise to the top of conversations on video watch pages. We’ve also provided new features and tools to assist you in moderating these conversations more effectively. In order to use these tools and to comment, it is required that your channel to be connected to a Google+ identity (http://goo.gl/Gv4wE2). The next feature is that posts are no longer ranked in reverse chronological order(newest post first). Now at the top of the list, you’ll see comments from the video’s creator, popular personalities, engaged discussions about the video, and people in your Google+ Circles. You can also join the conversation publicly or privately. Lastly, there are better moderation tools like blacklisting tems and auto-approving comments from chosen fans. See more in the blog here (http://goo.gl/iPw0X8).

New comments integrated into YouTube Analytics - November 7
With the launch of improved comments, you'll notice some changes in the comments reports on your videos. We show aggregate comment numbers, but there are other things to consider when looking at the data. First, overall comments numbers might go down initially since not everyone can comment. Also, a successful “share” on Google+ will not only increase the number of shares in the Sharing report, but also the number of comments. Lastly, although creators cannot see private comments on the watch page, their count will be included in the “comment report.”

“Communications manager” role now available for Google+ page owners
Page owners can now assign the “communications manager” role to people in charge of engaging followers without giving full access to the connected YouTube channel or permission to edit their overall Google+ page appearance. Creators can start assigning this new role in the "managers" tab of their Google+ page dashboard. More roles to come in the future.

YouTube Analytics Groups launch - November 7th
There IS now an option to create channel and video groups in YouTube Analytics. This has always been a top partner request. Please try out the feature and provide feedback via the “Feedback button” to help us improve it.  Also, join the YouTube Analytics Google+ Community for tips, news about the latest features, and analytics discussions with other creators.

Improved categorization of compositions as public domain
Like to put up videos of your child’s piano recital where they are playing Beethoven? This could be good news for you. We’ve now improved the categorization of compositions as public domain by relying more on composer metadata. This means fewer creators will see claims on their videos when the composition is in the public domain.

YouTube Partnerships Product Bulletin - Mar 29
#ytpartnerbulletin

After some time off, we're back with a recap of launches from the past few weeks.

Earnings reporting simplified - Apr 1
No kidding, beginning April 1, the way YouTube calculates and reports revenues for YouTube partners will change. This will better accommodate complex and custom payment scenarios. There will be no change in how you are paid. If you want to view your YouTube financial performance, you should go to YouTube Analytics (http://www.youtube.com/analytics) or downloadable reports to find a comprehensive view of all your YouTube videos earnings sources.  More details can be found here (http://goo.gl/pcVt8

YouTube Capture app now available for iPad - Mar 15
This is the easiest way to capture and share video on YouTube on your iPad! Other benefits include:  fast uploading of your video; post to YouTube, Google+, Facebook, and Twitter, or share privately with friends and family; and Video editing capability
YouTube Capture is available for devices running iOS 5 and above.

Fan-generated content included in attribution to comScore and Nielsen - Mar 1
Claimed UGC is included in comScore’s VideoMetrix reports (starting with January reports) and Nielsen VideoCensus reports (starting with February reports). Some partners will see a big difference in ranking now that videos they claim are in these reports. Note that content with multiple owners or claims is not credited by comScore and Nielsen at this time.

Access your dashboard from anywhere in YouTube - Mar 20
Your dashboard gives you more insight into your YouTube videos and account. You can now more easily access this as it is now a link in the Upload dropdown menu at the top of your screens(see image below).

+Josh Kostka I'm thinking going back to my former way of making videos because no matter how often I change to do things as Youtube advise, they keep changing the game and all my work is wasted.

I had starting uploading 3 videos a week on a schedule on my cooking channel (as advised by youtube)  but I think I'll go back to making videos whenever needed to enhance my website content instead. It's why I started making them in the first place. Any earnings from youtube then become a bonus on top of what the websites earn instead of the focus of what I'm doing.

My two websites are craft and cooking related so both benefit a great deal from having videos but I won't be tied to a schedule or make myself crazy/broke trying to keep up with the changes.

YouTube Live Mini Con in Los Angeles on October 25
We've opened up public tickets to this event, which will feature encoding vendor demonstrations, live platform workshops, and presentations from industry experts and successful creators. Tickets are free and open to anyone with YouTube Live enabled on their channel (http://goo.gl/YffNN0). Register here! (http://goo.gl/U84Cb7). Spots are limited.

New live platform is the default for live events
This is for older live channels; channels new to live events have only been exposed to the new platform.  Benefits of the new platform are:  real-time transcoding; DVR functionality, which includes pause, rewind, and resume an event; dynamic bandwidth adjustment; and (drumroll, please) 24/7 events. Just click this link(goo.gl/WsPMFA) to upgrade.  The old platform will be going away very soon.

Content ID on live streams
It is essential that you clear content rights (including background music) before enabling a live stream. Only play background music during the stream if your channel has been whitelisted by the music label(s) that own the sound recordings of the music being played. For more details, read this(http://goo.gl/1QrF5V)  Check out more requirements, with everything from the basics to advanced information here(http://goo.gl/JrT8Mc).
Keep up with your favorite channels. Save videos to watch later, watch recommendations just for you, or subscribe to get updates from your favorite channels. Watch everywhere. Take your picks with you wherever you go — watch on your smartphone, tablet, or smart TV. Share with your friends ...

+YouTube Creators the first link shared at the bottom re. © issues with Live Streaming suggests the following:
1- Make sure you work with the content owners to ensure you have the proper rights for all content you include in your live events (even private ones and tests). Just Exactly HOW does one do that and let YouTube know about it!?

YouTube App V2 out for iOS
Now it’s easier for your fans to explore your channel on the latest YouTube apps for Android and for iOS. When fans get to your channel, you can keep them around longer. With the swipe of a finger, they can keep watching your video at the bottom of the screen while exploring the rest of your channel at the same time. See more in the blog here(http://goo.gl/yAvx40).

InVideo Programming - new context test labels
Default context text labels (“Suggested by [channel name]” and video title) will start showing as part of the InVideo programming watch promotion in the bottom left corner, for consistent experience across all devices. In addition, all branding watermarks will be displayed in the top right corner. As a result, we are removing the “Position” option from the programming interface here(http://goo.gl/rncHRx).

Video responses to be retired
Only 4 out of every 1 million viewers who sees a video response below the video they’re watching click on it. So on September 12, we’re going to retire this feature as we work to develop more effective fan-engagement tools for creators. In the meantime, you can continue to encourage fans to upload videos with specific titles, hashtags or descriptions, so you can find these by searching for them. If you want to highlight them, you can use playlists and channel sections.

Demographic filters for subscribers(in YouTube Analytics)
We’re adding the option to filter demographics data to only show demographics of subscribers viewing the content. This data can look quite different from the overall demographics data since not all viewers are subscribers. Keep in mind that demographics data is based on desktop views and logged-in viewers only. See more here(goo.gl/Km3vsL).

Edit timecodes in caption editor
Creators can now edit the timing of their caption and transcript files right in the captions UI! To use this feature, edit a caption track, select a line of text and then press UP or DOWN keys to change the start time, and then press LEFT or RIGHT keys to adjust the duration. Combined with automatically pausing videos when typing a transcript, creators can now make perfectly-timed captions directly on YouTube.com. See the screenshot below.

PRODUCT LAUNCHES AND UPDATES

Must Know: New CMS Uploads Tab [Aug-29]
The CMS development team released a new version of the Uploads tab to all users as part of the ongoing effort to improve certain features of the platform. The new version of the tab features functionality upgrades that should make partners' experience with managing their videos much easier and simpler. The new filters, in particular, will ease some of the management processes for partners with many channels and uploads.

Must Know: TrueView Instream Video Ads Launched on YouTube Android Mobile App [Sep-1]
Today, most of us watch video on our smartphones and tablets, as well as our PCs - we watch videos when we’re out with friends, while waiting in line, or riding the bus home. We’ve rolled out a number of specific mobile ad formats on YouTube over the past year, making it easier for advertisers to reach people with great ads and content creators to monetize mobile views. Now we’re extending this further by launching TrueView In-stream video ads on the YouTube Android mobile app.

More Information: http://googlemobileads.blogspot.com/2012/08/trueview-video-ads-now-on-mobile-devices.html

For Your Info: Use Google+ profile name on YouTube [Aug-29]
Partners who have Google+ Profiles on the same Google Account as their Channel can use their Google+ Profile name on YouTube. Note that this does not yet work for Google+ Pages, which can have the name of a band, show, or organization.

Details Here: http://goo.gl/DnQam

Videos and Feed Tabs Merged Into "Browse Videos" Tab - Sept 12
To simply the channels browsing experience, we've merged the videos and feed tabs into a single tab called "Browse Videos"(http://goo.gl/zc4ry). This change impacts all channels and went live on 9/12. The default view is all uploaded videos displayed in a grid. Playlists, Activity, Likes, etc. are accessible through a browse menu. Responding to feedback after the launch, we're continuing to name channel activity the Feed, to provide more clarity.

YouTube Analytics Private and Unlisted Video Search - Sept 19
Currently a user can only find their private and unlisted videos in Analytics by video ID. This launch will allow a user to find their own videos also by title, as is the case for searching public videos in Analytics.

Project: YouTube - Episode Nine - Sept 26
Along with the Product Bulletin, another great way to keep up with recent site updates is Project: Youtube, an ongoing bi-weekly video series from the Partner Support team. See this week's episode here (http://goo.gl/AQ8l8)

Improved Video Ingestion CMS Uploader and Metadata Spreadsheets - Sept 26
We are launching in CMS a simplified Ingestion path using a combination of CMS Uploader for files upload, and CSV spreadsheets templates for providing uploads metadata. We expect this change to make video Ingestion much easier to use at scale. (http://goo.gl/cAYJE)

Monetize More Videos at Once - Sept 26
We've increased how many videos Partners can now at once in Video Manager. We expect this to make it easier to manage your video settings in a single click. (http://goo.gl/tcZ7a)

Improved promotion of live events on channels - October 3
We have added the option to automatically promote a live event on your channel page as soon as it is scheduled. Selecting this option will temporarily (while the event is live) replace your unsubscribed trailer with a promo to watch the live event on the watch page. After the live event finishes, the unsubscribed trailer will return to being featured on the channel page. Many asked if it was possible to do this with HOA (hangouts on air)? The answer: Yes. However, you have to enable the promotion feature on the YouTube video manager and not in G+.

Creator Pulse Newsletter launched - October 1
On October 1st, we launched the first ever newsletter for creators: the Creator Pulse. This newsletter includes a spotlight on fresh, creative uses of YouTube plus the latest news in product, programs, and education. Tune in to future newsletters by checking “All YouTube newsletters” at the bottom of this page (http://goo.gl/A8jvR). For more details, read the creator blog (http://goo.gl/UAkvMM).

Free music with the YouTube Audio Library -  September 25
The YouTube Audio Library is now live at youtube.com/audiolibrary (http://goo.gl/GfxeuK). The library features more than 150 high quality music files that you can download to use and add to your videos. Tracks are free to use and keep, and videos with these tracks can be monetized. Read more about this in our creator blog here (http://goo.gl/cdY2qT) or help center here (http://goo.gl/rrAiue).

New commenting system announced - September 24
YouTube comments are getting an upgrade.  In the coming weeks, you’ll get better moderation tools and your fans will get a better viewing experience because comments are turning into conversations that matter to them. Comments from you and people your fans care about will rise to the top of the conversation, and you’ll also be able to block specific key words, banish unwelcome voices and pre-approve people who contribute to meaningful discussions. For more details, please check YouTube’s official blog here (http://goo.gl/oIvmuY).

Custom text labels for InVideo Programming - September 17-
You can now add a custom text line to your selected featured video. The custom text will show up for three seconds, afterwards replaced with the default label: “Suggested by [channel name]”. With this launch we also made featured video timing options more standard, limiting their duration with choices of five, ten or fifteen seconds.

Free online course
The YouTube Creator Academy (http://goo.gl/qmpFba) has launched a course to help build your audience. In the course, we’ll dive into the OneChannel design and explain how the features can help you attract more subscribers and viewers. Hurry, this free, online course is available until October 18th. Help viewers watch more of your videos by converting your playlist into a Series Playlist in the playlist settings. When you group videos that belong together, we’ll show viewers of your videos the next episode from the series and a link to the whole playlist

Expanded privacy settings for playlists
As the creator of a playlist, you have the option to make your playlist public, private, or unlisted, just like individual videos. This is explained further here (http://goo.gl/V0eoEC

Up to five-thousand playlists per channel
We've raised the limit on playlists to 5k, so you can now create more! See (http://goo.gl/zFyjMF) for more details

Embedded playlist redesign
We’ve improved embedded playlists by making them more consistent with YouTube, easier to play videos from the queued state, and easier to browse and navigate back and forth from the video to other information on the playlist and its videos

Organize not just your videos, but playlists in sections
Many creators had already organized videos into playlists, but we also heard that only using tags to organize videos required more work. Not only can you create a section from a single playlist, but add multiple playlists to sections or group together several playlists or mixtures of playlists. Learn more about setting up playlists in sections here (http://goo.gl/ti1lwc)

YouTube Partnerships Product Bulletin -July 23

Automatic Selection in InVideo Programming
Going forward, we’re giving you dynamic ways to choose what videos you program. The first concept is featuring the most recently uploaded video. Go to your InVideo Programming (http://goo.gl/poBnB) and select the “featured video” button to test it out!

Live notifications
To help promote your live events, we’ll send emails to subscribers when your channel has a live event. To get these updates, the viewers must be opted into receiving live event notifications.

Channel Trailers Best Practices
Now that everyone is on the new channel design, we want to introduce the concept of a channel trailer. This programming spot is for converting viewers into subscribers. Think of it like the video version of your channel description. Ads don’t show on your trailer, so viewers can focus on your video. We think videos are better at converting viewers into subscribers than just avatars and descriptions. We also auto-play the trailer since we want to quickly capture viewers’ attention. For more advice, check out the Creator Blog post(http://goo.gl/egqQS). It includes great information about how to make good trailers with examples from other creators.

Creating your next channel just got easier
Previously, each channel you created needed its own Google account log-in.  If you’re a creator who manages many channels, it becomes difficult to manage all of your email addresses and passwords used to log in.

Now, when you create a new channel, you'll have the option to connect it with a Google+ page. This allows you to create new channels using a Google account that you already use to manage other channels and Google+ pages. Learn more about the steps to create a new channel in the blog (http://goo.gl/Xetlk)

More video insights with YouTube Analytics
You can now view and download data for your top 200 videos in YouTube Analytics! In addition, we’ve just made some visual enhancements to your reports to help make it easier to interpret your data. Visit YouTube Analytics to try out the new multi-line and stacked-area graphs. Read more about the change in the blog (http://goo.gl/Pwyhy)

Certamente, la creacion de un canal ya no es tan dificil, lo verdaderamente complicado es hacer que el canal llegue a una amplia adiencia y, para ello, es muy importante, que lo que se cree sea de utilidad a la comunidad.

PRODUCT LAUNCHES AND UPDATES

Must Know: Tags removed from video watch pages [Aug-15]
Our data showed publicly displayed tags were failing to help users find the videos they wanted to watch, so we've decided to make them private. Tags remain an important way to organize and help others find your videos. We strongly encourage you to continue tagging videos -- this will help increase your audience by improving the discoverability of your content.

For Your Info: YouTube Analytics Compare Dissimilar Metric on 2nd y axis Graph [Aug-22]
We are adding the ability to compare metrics which have different units measure as a second y axis. We are starting with exposing estimated earnings, views and subscribers on every relevant graph, and will expose more metrics gradually. Previously, you need to have the same units to compare in a graph (such as views and monetizable views).

+John Consiglio I agree that it can be 'Functional' but for only this type of Page (i.e. a Page that is rarely used here on G+) - if the Page had more posts going on, I would be drowning in notifications... as it is, I get more that 100+ per day. I'd like the Subscription options to be more granular, let me choose more of the topic of the posts... but to do that G+ would have to introduce more topic-choice options, etc.

My main complaint with the latest changes are too all or nothing... they took away some of the subtleness of the tools and replaced them with bluntness.

My name is njabulo ngidi, some people who know call me manjapha (man j). I write this statement to sincerely apologize for the words that I put on this website during the year of 2010 late August. I also would like to mention that I had not been myself in the weeks leading up to the day that I wrote those words, but somehow I still remember them and they have been haunting me ever since I got better. The words that I wrote were not the words I would even have thought of had I been myself. I did and said things which I would not say or do willingly (and although nobody had put a gun onto my head, I felt controlled). The list goes on and on about the terrible things I did and said during that period, some of my family members still cannot look at me the same way they did prior that period. If there was a way I could use to take back what I said or erase that chapter of my life, I would use it with both hands. From the bottom of my heart, I am sorry to everybody who was offended by those words and I wish they could find it in their hearts to forgive me as I lay myself down. i had been scared of doing this as it is the hardest thing i ever had to do. Please forgive me.
