Personal safety equipment
Make sure you are properly equipped prior to going on the water. Some personal safety equipment is mandatory for Pleasure Vessels of 13.7 metres in length and over.
Depending on far from the coast you venture, you may be required by law to have items such as a lifejackets.
For Pleasure Vessels of less than 13.7 metres in length there are no mandatory requirements for safety equipment other than those required under SOLAS V. However, it is essential that you are properly equipped before going on the water.

Buoyancy Aids and Lifejackets
- Personal floatation devices come in two main forms buoyancy aids and life-jackets. Worn correctly a personal flotation device could save your life.

- Always, always, always use a kill cord and ensure that it is attached to the driver of the boat.
