How to report violations

This article provides an overview of how to report potential violations of the Twitter Rules and Terms of Service.

How to report directly from a Tweet or profile

You can report directly from an individual Tweet or profile for certain violations, including: spam, abusive or harmful content, inappropriate ads, self-harm and impersonation. For information about reporting other types of violations, see below (How to report specific types of violations).

How to report profiles for violations:

Open the profile you’d like to report.
Select the gear icon (on web or Twitter for iOS) or tap the overflow icon (on Twitter for Android).
Select Report and then select the type of issue you’d like to report.
If you select They’re being abusive or harmful, we’ll ask you to provide additional information about the issue you’re reporting.
Once you’ve submitted your report, we’ll provide recommendations for additional actions you can take to improve your Twitter experience.

How to report specific types of violations

Pornography: to report obscene or pornographic images being used in user profile photos, header photos, and/or background images on Twitter, follow instructions outlined here.

Note: When reporting potential violations of the Twitter Rules and Terms of Service via the Help Center, you may be asked to allow us to share parts of your report with third parties, such as the affected user.

How to report on behalf of someone else

You can report violations on behalf of another user. Refer to the categories and instructions listed above or visit our Help Center to submit your report. You can also report directly from a Tweet or profile (see above section How to report directly from a Tweet or profile).

How to find a Vine account ID

When reporting explicit content on Vine, you may be asked to provide a Vine account ID. Here’s how.

From the web:

From the user’s profile, copy the Vine account ID from the URL. It should look like this: https://vine.co/u/[VINEID] or https://vine.co/[VINEID].

From an iOS device:

From the user’s profile, tap on the three dots in the upper right hand corner.
Tap Share this profile.
Copy the Vine ID contained in the URL provided. It should look like this: vine://user/[VINEID].

From an Android device:

From the user’s profile, tap on the three dots in the upper right hand corner or the Menu button.
Tap Share profile and provide a destination.
Copy the Vine ID contained in the URL provided. It should look like this: vine://user/[VINEID].

How to find a link to a Vine post

When reporting explicit content on Vine, you may be asked to provide the link to a Vine post. Here’s how.

From the web:

From the Vine post, click on the three dots located in the lower right hand corner.
Click on View post page.
Copy the URL. It should look like this: https://vine.co/v/....

From an iOS device:

From the Vine post, tap the Share icon.
Tap More options.
Tap Copy link. It should look like this: https://vine.co/v/....

From an Android device:

From the Vine post, tap the Share icon.
Tap Share to and provide a destination.
Copy the URL provided. It should look like this: https://vine.co/v/....
