British Sailing Team represented in three classes at Garda Trentino Olympic Week

The EUROSAF Champions Sailing Cup series kicks off this week with the Garda Trentino Olympic Week, Italy, where 12 British Sailing Team members will be in action across three classes (7-11 May).

Five-time World Champions and Paralympic bronze medallists Alexandra Rickham and Niki Birrell will be in competition in the SKUD class for the first time since their Miami World Cup triumph in January, while three British Sailing Team crews will contest the 49erFX event on the picturesque Lake Garda.

Palma World Cup bronze medallists Charlotte Dobson-Sophie Ainsworth, plus world number three pair Frances Peters-Nicola Groves and Kate Macgregor-Katrina Best are among the 27-boat women's skiff fleet, spanning four continents.

The Laser class will see the biggest entry, with 89 boats including the British Sailing Team’s Nick Thompson, Alex Mills Barton, Elliot Hanson and Jack Wetherell.

The EUROSAF series, now in its second year, complements the ISAF Sailing World Cup series and Class Championships by providing quality competition in the Olympic and Paralympic Classes.

Racing at Garda Trentino Olympic Week gets underway on Wednesday 7 May, with medal races scheduled for Sunday 11 May.
