About Three.

Launched in 2005, Three shook up a stale and uncompetitive market with our great value price plans and services. Today, the Irish mobile market is a very different place, thanks to Three. We have a track record of firsts for consumers – we brought Skype to mobile first, even introduced a Skypephone; we were first to launch mobile broadband, first to introduce innovative price plans like FlexiFix and of course, we brought you “All You Can Eat Data” before any other operator.

In January 2014, Three launched its 4G services, for both Bill Pay and Prepay customers. Three offered significant coverage at launch, with over 60% coverage in the cities of Galway, Limerick and Waterford and 40% in Dublin and Cork. Total population coverage will continue to grow through 2014.

In July 2014, Three completed the acquisition of O2 in Ireland, which was previously owned by Telefonica. This deal takes Three's market share to 37% and brings subscriber numbers to over 2m active users.

Three has so far invested over €1.1bn in the Three Irish business. This, together with the purchase of O2 in Ireland and the planned investment of €300m to build a 4G network over the next three years, will bring our total investment in Ireland to circa €2bn.
