I found out my second grader has not been eating lunch all year. I give him money for lunch but he apparently didn't know what it was for, so he threw it out. Wtf? I am sort of stunned. How did he not know this??? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Just thought I'd let you know. We're homeschoolers too. Now here I thought you public/private school kids were so smart...! Guess not, huh? [ Reply | More ]

Thank you for cutting through the fluff and getting to the real point of this post... the obvious superiority of homeschooling over private/public! I was worried that people with lesser intellects than you might have been confused and thought the post was just about a kid who was confused about his lunch money. (Kidding... You're dumb and probably a nut job as well. Good luck to your kid.) [ Reply | More ]

Ok. Bad math. I wasn't thinking. The point remains, no kindergartener would have done this so if s 2nd grader is, something else is up. [ Reply | More ]

Even when my college aged child was in kindergarten, they had a lunch ticket system. Sorry, your school sounds kind of behind the times, or low budget or something. [ Reply | More ]

No teacher or lunch lady ever wondered why he wasn't eating?? He never told you he was hungry? He never wondered why all of the other kids sat down and ate lunch and he didn't? What the hell kind of school is this and how slow is your kid. [ Reply | More ]

I was going to say the same. There is no way a child has been sitting in a lunch room every day not eating and no adult noticed and commented. I don't believe it. Also - no cash for lunches. You put money on the kids account by sending in a check. [ Reply | More ]

Er, my kids and myself attended public school and if a kid shows up without a lunch and no money to buy it, the teacher/lunch ladies contact the parents after getting them something to eat. If some kind of financial issue happening at home, the school social worker assists them with signing up for free or reduced meals. How could your kid, a child under 10 years of age, possibly go without lunch an entire year without school staff noticing they weren't eating when lined up and marched to the cafeteria?
