Nominations open for the RYA Regional Young Sailor of the Year Awards 2011

Who will be your RYA Regional Young Sailor of the Year winner?

The RYA has officially begun its search for the RYA Regional Young Sailor of the Year Award winners by opening nominations today (Wednesday 24 August 2011).

The RYA Regional Young Sailor of the Year awards are a fantastic opportunity for your club or class association to recognise the outstanding impact young people make to UK boating, whether it’s on the race course, at their club, overcoming adversity or through an exceptional achievement.

Make your nomination

RYA Chief Executive Sarah Treseder said: "We know there are an enormous amount of young people out there demonstrating great skill within the sport and doing fantastic things at their clubs. The RYA Regional Young Sailor of the Year Awards are an opportunity for us all to recognise and celebrate their achievements.

“Your nominations are essential to the awards so please look out for your winning sailor, windsurfer, powerboater or jetskier.”

From the nominations received, the RYA’s 13 regional committees will decide on each regions winner. Each RYA Regional Young Sailor of the Year winner is then automatically put forward for the National YJA Pantaenius Young Sailor of the Year Award, with three finalists short-listed by the Yachting Journalists Association (YJA) from all of the nominees.

VIP day for the regional winners

All RYA regional winners and their families will be treated to a VIP day at the 2012 London Boat Show, where the National YJA Pantaenius winner will be announced

The awards are open to young sailors and powerboaters who will not have attained their 19th birthday before 31st December.
