Each 1,200mg Healthspan Elite Krill Oil capsule contains 276mg omega 3 fatty acids (77mg DHA and 149mg EPA) as well as particularly high levels of the important compounds astaxanthin (120µg) and marine phospholipids (492mg).

There is growing evidence which demonstrates the benefit of krill oil supplementation in sport, and as a result it is fast becoming a firm favourite amongst researchers and practitioners alike.

Although containing relatively low levels of the beneficial omega 3 fatty acids DHA and EPA when compared to traditional fish oils, it is krill oil’s unique composition whereby fatty acids are bound to phospholipids which truly set it apart. Phospholipids are a fundamental compound of human cell membranes, and it is their presence that is thought to contribute to the unparalleled bioavailability of krill oil. Krill oil is also a source of the powerful compound astaxanthin as well as choline, which contributes to normal lipid metabolism as well as maintaining normal liver function. 

Each capsule is completed with the inclusion of natural lemon flavour to improve palatability and reduce reflux.

Product Origins

The krill oil used in our Healthspan Elite Krill Oil 1,200mg has been sourced exclusively from sustainable fisheries, using eco-harvesting® technology from the cold and unpolluted waters of the Antarctic. The eco-harvesting® technique uses a bespoke trawl system whereby a direct hose connection between the trawl and the vessel holds a unique mechanism that singles out unwanted by-catch and releases it unharmed. Independent observers have verified that the proprietary technology and novel harvesting method ensures no by-catch of species other than euphausia superba krill.

Krill oil’s purity is unrivalled by other forms of fish oil due to the nutrient rich waters which they inhabit. Antarctic krill are so low in the food chain and live in the cleanest waters on earth that they are naturally low in accumulated contaminants. All these factors make krill a truly superior source of nutrition for their natural predators as well as for humans.

The krill oil in our capsules is MSC (Marine Stewardship Council) certified which means that every company which has handled it has been independently audited, stores certified items separately and keeps comprehensive records. This ensures that there is complete traceability protecting the consumer and avoids the risk of fisheries carrying products from illegal, unregulated, and unreported fishing.
