RYA Coastal Skipper & Yachtmaster Offshore - 5 day Shore Based course with Online Home Study option

Once you have completed the initial stages in your training with success in your RYA Competent Crew and Day Skipper Practical courses, you will be ready to move on to the intermediate level of Coastal Skipper before progressing to the pinnacle of the RYA Training Scheme, Yachtmaster Offshore and Yachtmaster Ocean.
Both the Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster Offshore Shore Based courses are the same. Once this theory course is completed, candidates are able to progress to either the Coastal Skipper Practical course, and achieve a Course Completion Certificate at that level, or move on to acquire Certificates of Competence, awarded for Yachtmaster Coastal; Yachtmaster Offshore and Yachtmaster Ocean.
A pre-course minimum experience level of Day Skipper Shore Based is suggested, as it is assumed you will be capable of navigation to this standard.
Course Content: Offshore and coastal navigation, pilotage, coastal and offshore passages. Please see syllabus details on the right.
Course Schedule:
- Classroom: 09:00 Monday – 17:30 Friday.
- Online: 40/50 hours of home study with an online tutor. Course completion should be within 6 months of registration but this is extendable for a small additional fee.
Ability after Course: Background knowledge to skipper a yacht on coastal passages by day and night.

- All course materials and loan of navigation equipment.
- Course completion certificate.
- Waterfront classroom
Course Fee – Home Study US$500 to include.
- All course materials delivered to a UK address. Please add US$50 for secure DHL delivery outside UK.
