"Very good instructor, pushed us to learn more than the syllabus. Good company and brought lots of real life experience to our time together. Will certainly consider doing Day Skipper with Ian next year alongside our son who will be 16, doing Competent Crew."
Charlotte

"Great tutor, learnt much more than expected. Great patience with 2 novices. Thanks very much. Look forward to coming back soon."

RYA Start Yachting – 2 day practical course
# Course reference number: PC1

This is a weekend “taster” course that simply takes you sailing along Antigua’s beautiful west coastline. The course provides a short introduction to sail cruising for complete beginners. No previous experience is required and there is no minimum age.

Your RYA Start Yachting qualification may be carried forward to the RYA Competent Crew practical course, which would be achieved after a further 3 days or 2 weekends of training.

If you have previous experience of sailing with family, friends or a holiday outing, and have already decided you have been “bitten”, you may skip this introductory course and go straight into RYA Competent Crew and begin your sail training in earnest.

Start Yachting – Practical CourseCourse Content: Introduction to sailing & seamanship. Please see syllabus details on the right.

Course Schedule: 09:00 – 17:00 Saturday & Sunday.
By the end of the course, you will have experienced steering a yacht, sail handling, rope work and an awareness of safety on board, and have answered several of the “Is it for me?” questions.

Ability after Course:  Basic sailing experience.
