Using location services on mobile devices

Enabling location services through Twitter's official apps allows Twitter to periodically determine your location. This allows us to provide, develop, and improve a variety of our services, including but not limited to:
  • Showing your followers the location you are Tweeting from as part of your Tweet.
  • Delivery of location-specific trends.
  • Delivery of content, including Tweets and advertising, that is tailored to your location.

How to enable/disable location services on Twitter for iOS:

    1. Go to your device's Settings app and select Privacy.
    2. Tap Location Services.
    3. Locate the Twitter app and tap to select Never or While using the app.

    How to enable/disable location services on Twitter for Android:

      1. In the top menu, tap on the overflow icon (on the far right).
      2. Select Settings and then tap General.
      3. Select or deselect the checkbox next to Location to enable or disable the setting.
        Note: Your location for trends and stories can be changed by going to the trends list in the Discover tab. Learn more about how personalized trends are determined here.
