Anchoring guide for Studland Bay now available 

The guide will help you anchor effectively in Studland Bay with minimal impact on the seabed.

Boaters looking to visit Studland Bay but who are concerned about what effect they could be having on the seabed can now refer to a newly published  ‘Anchoring with Care’ guide to help them.  

The guide, produced by the RYA, the Boat Owners Response Group, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust, Natural England and the Dorset Wildlife Trust, provides boaters with a  map showing where the seagrass meadows are together with top tips on how to anchor effectively whilst minimising their impact on the seabed.  

Studland Bay is home to seagrass meadows which protect the coast from erosion and provide a home for a diverse range of fish and marine animals.

The Anchoring with Care guide is being distributed by Dorset Wildlife Trust Marine Rangers and the RYA.
