Beyond Fright Giveaway – Win A Free DVD Copy of Bank$Tas

Yes, fright fanatics, I know, a movie called Bank$Tas isn’t exactly a genre title, but we like to have some fun and throw things your way whenever possible, so this is one of those times. Thanks to the folks at Arc Entertainment, we’ve got (3) DVD copies of the chaotic comedy film about two college grads turning the tables on a crooked boss. So if that’s your cup of tea, then by all means, enter now, and we’ll pick three winners at random (really really random, like asking a 5 year old to close her eyes and point random) and send each of the three winners a DVD copy of the film. Good luck!

“Life could not be better for best friends Neal and Isaac. They just graduated college and landed their dream job with a top investment bank, but when they discover their boss is planning a crooked student loan deal, »

Frankenstein Created Bikers Is Happening!

The digital revolution had all but rendered shooting on a film as nothing more than a pipe dream, and cinephiles were beginning to say goodbye to the medium that shaped their favorite art form from the very beginning.  The aesthetic of film is something that cannot be captured, only replicated, no matter how skilled an editor may be.  35mm is almost impossible to get a hold of these days (unless you’re part of a huge movie studio) so the independent artist’s chances at shooting on film is slim to none.  However, director James Bickert (who brought us the absolutely dynamite Dear God, No) has other ideas.

Frankenstein Created Bikers is going to be one of the last (if not the absolute last) independent horror film shot on 35mm.  Frankenstein Created Bikers centers around the re-animation of the South’s most notorious biker gang, The Impalers. Dr. Marco and »

SXSW Q&A: Crow Hand!!! Director Brian Lonano!!

As previously reported (review), the short film Crow Hand!!! was one of our favorite shorts at this year’s SXSW festival, and we thought we’d ask director Brian Lonano a few questions about what in the living hell inspires such a funny yet gruesome (and lovable) short film. Check it out when you get a chance, and read on!

How did the idea of Crow Hand!!! come about?

The idea is based on a true story…sort of. My wife and I were at a film festival last year and as we walked to the parking lot after we picked up our badges, I looked down and saw this weird totem on the ground that looked like a crow! So I called to her and said “look at this weird thing on the ground. It looks like a crow.” And her reply was “Don’t pick it up. It’s really creepy. »

Icons of Fright SXSW Interview: Director Mickey Keating Talks Pod, Ritual, Darling and Carnage Park!!

15 March 2015 5:11 PM, PDT

One of the most anticipated “midnight” movies at this year’s SXSW (South by Southwest) festival, is director Mickey Keating’s Pod, the follow-up to Keating’s Very entertaining 2013 low-budget yet high on thrills film Ritual. While Ritual was a scary and tense film about two people being stalked by a cult, Pod deals with very different subjects and shows Keating’s trend of never making the same kind of films twice. A true cinephile, Keating is a director to look out for, and we were lucky enough to have a chat with the talented filmmaker regarding Pod, Ritual and his next two films, Darling and Carnage Park. Read on!

How’s it going, Mickey?

Hey, how’s it going, man?

I am doing fine, just reading about Harrison Ford crashing his plane into a golf course, what’s up with that?

I know dude, how weird is that? He’s still tickin though, »
