Effective late September, 2023, Amazon quietly changed its terms of service to prohibit the use of one's gift card balance to buy third-party gift cards, among other things, without much in the way of explaining their rationale, which is likely to be that jack-of-all-trades reason, "fraud protection" (which doesn't stand up to scrutiny in the case of someone like myself who would buy a small number of low-value e-gift cards per year, tops). In the case of myself, they seem to be intent on preventing a problem that never existed in the first place... especially since my account contains a long-term audit trail showing the sources of every penny of MY money I've ever spent on Amazon.com.
