The Blunt Reason One Academy Member Didn't Vote For Selma
9 hours ago | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »
Selma's Oscar snub is still a sore point among film fans. The story was powerful and timely, the director's work was astounding, and the performances were strong. So why didn't it get any love outside of Best Picture and Best Original Song? There's one Oscar voter who has a reason, but chances are it'll infuriate all those who adored the film. As part of an ongoing series, The Hollywood Reporter has been publishing conversations with different Academy voters each day leading up to the Oscars on February 22. The most recent installment centered on an anonymous female voter, who's said to be a longtime member of the Academy's 378-member public relations branch. When asked about her vote for Best Picture, she had some extremely blunt words to say about Selma. What no one wants to say out loud is that Selma is a well-crafted »

Director David Ayer has already put together a number of big casting pieces for his upcoming DC Comics live-action film Suicide Squad, but today the project has found yet another start to join its ranks. The latest actor to join the movie is none other than Hostel and Gang Related star Jay Hernandez. The Wrap first got the scoop on the casting, though they don't have any firm details regarding exactly who Hernandez will be playing in the 2016 blockbuster. There are no possible character names mentioned, though the writer adds "it.s possible that he could be playing an inmate on the same cell block as The Joker, though there are several other open roles at this time." The actor is joining a rather stellar ensemble that includes Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as the crazy/lovable Harley Quinn, Jared Leto as The Joker, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, »

Another Alien Movie Is Happening And It Will Be Directed By Neill Blomkamp

About two months, District 9 director Neill Blomkamp teased the world via his personal Instagram account with some badass concept art suggesting that he was developing a brand new movie in the Alien franchise that would bring back original series star Sigourney Weaver. There has been plenty of questioning in the weeks since regarding whether or not this project would actually ever be happening, but today we have an actual answer - and it's yes! This confirmation came this afternoon, once again from Blomkamp's Instagram feed. Rather than showing off some more new concept art, however, the filmmaker instead posted some xenomorph-related art from H.R. Giger, and paired it with a simple caption: Um... So I think it's officially my next film. #alien A photo posted by Brownsnout (@neillblomkamp) on Feb 18, 2015 at 3:55pm Pst Our first hint that this new Alien project was happening actually came last week while »

“It was like the eve of a battle; the hearts beat, the eyes laughed, and they felt that the life they were perhaps going to lose, was after all, a good thing.” In BBC America’s version of The Three Musketeers, and not unlike the Alexandre Dumas serial, Porthos is quick to laugh, down an ale and roughhouse with his mates; he is also the best at keeping niggling doubts or worries well hidden ‘neath his leathers. Any likeness with other onscreen adaptations soon tapers off as, in those, he is usually portrayed as a full of himself swordsman with a penchant for dressing fine; a sort of metrosexual Musketeer. He is also, in earlier renditions, given to...

Simpsons executive producer Al Jean says this isn’t true. He would know, but no matter.
