WHAT IS A PROFESSIONAL?
A professional is generally agreed to be someone who has practical experience, theoretical training such as a degree or other qualification plus membership of a professional association. Membership of a professional association like ABYA or YDSA pays dividends as clients understand that their broker or surveyor has the back-up of a professional association, offering support when queries arise. If the broker or surveyor you are using is not a member of a professional association s/he may well not have PI insurance (to protect you as well as them), or for Brokers they may not have a Client Account to keep client monies separate from their own trading accounts.

Practical Yacht Brokerage courses (held three times a year) - next is 2/3 March 2015. Marwell Hotel, near Winchester
Surveying with the YDSA - 2 day course alongside the brokers course. Next course - 2/3 March 2015 at the Marwell Hotel.
