Works perfect. I have been able to download movies to flash drive and then play back on my kindle so not to use up my memory. The only reason I bought the new Kindle fire was that it had this adapter to extend my memory and I has done everything promised.

This USB adapter works perfectly on my Kindle fire 6. You need to make sure you have the Fire 6 or 7 4th gen. It does not work on previous generations.

I recently purchased a Kindle Fire HD 6 and was excited when I saw this product pop up in my offers tab, however after receiving it I am a little disappointed.

I transferred over 300 pictures from my Samsung S5 to a USB with the intention of being able to transfer to my Kindle device. The product does give you the abilty to access photos from the USB but the Kindle does not give you the option to save to the device. Frustrating as I would like to be able to transfer pictures with having to go through the cloud.

Samsung users, the product does works like a charm with my Samsung phone. No problem with saving files to the Samsung device.

I returned it for a full refund. Before I bought this, I called Kindle Customer Support and explained I wanted an OTG cable to transfer pictures directly from my camera to my Kindle. This is the one they recommended. When I got it, it did not work. After another call to Kindle Customer Support, they said that this cable only works in transferring data from a computer to the Kindle. Unfortunately, it doesn't work and I have no way to share pictures while I travel.

It works... sometimes. Depends on the device the Kindle is connected to. I bought this to transfer photos from a Sony Camera and it creates an error when connected telling to use an OTG cable. But when connected to my Samsung SIII phone it works to let me import photos. I can connect the Samsung SIII to the Sony Camera and it works.

So I can take a picture on the Sony, use the cable to transfer to my phone (which I could already do using WiFi) then use the cable to transfer the photo to my Kindle(s). The Sony implementation of WiFi & NFC will not work with the Kindle so direct transfer without a cable was impossible before, and is still impossible now with THIS adaptor.

If had not already purchased this on a deal from Amazon, I would skip it. But for the $5 special, I won't bother returning it.

I have 3 "generations" of Fire Kindles - none of which can use this gadget but at the price, figured I'd hold on to it till I catch up with hardware. The real issue is the use of the word "generations"; have no idea which device is which generation and the new categories is just making things more complicated. Do you suppose you could do up a sort of "cheat-sheet" to be able to identify to which "generation" each Kindle belongs?

Beware! This device does work with the gen 4 Kindle Fire. However, the way the Kindle is setup makes this less than optimal. You see, when connecting a flash drive, the Kindle tries to download the entire flash drive into it's own memory before you can access what's on it. Not to big a problem if you have the 16 gig Kindle as even a complete movie will fit into it's memory if not too full with apps and other stuff. With the 8 gig Kindle it's a different story. Most modern flash drives are bigger than the available memory on the Kindle and won't work! For sure a movie will not fit on the 8 gig as the actual available memory is more like 5 gigs and most movies are bigger than that. Unfortunately, my Kindle is the 8 gig and I've learned all this by trial and error. Rather unfortunate that there is NO manual on this that mentions how Kindle handles external attachments. Also seems rather stupid way to handle them. If you attach a large flash drive (16 gig or more) the Kindle cannot handle it and won't recognize it. Mine can't even handle an 8 gig! Smaller ones work fine but you can't fit a whole movie on them so usefulness is very limited. OK if you just have some pictures or short videos, but that's about it. Bummer!!!
