Brilliantly conceived and splendidly executed, this is a novel that has seized the imagination of generations of adults and children alike. And as David Cordingly points out in his afterward, Treasure Island is also the best and most influential of all pirate stories.

"Wonderful!"
I found the narrator so wonderful in this telling of Treasure Island that even though I knew the story, I found myself smiling at his ability to create such marvelous voices!! You'll love this one, I promise!!
"A pure joy to listen to!"
This is one of the best audiobooks I've ever had the pleasure listening to. Alfred Molina's narration is nothing short of remarkable, showing a command of the era's language in a way I've never quite heard before. He doesn't stay at arm's length but rather embodies these classic characters, displaying nuance at every turn of phrase and practically chewing on the lines. It's really quite an accomplishment.
But the real treasure remains Stevenson's very elegant (and underrated) writing. It remains one heck of a good yarn that has withstood the test of time for very good reasons. Highly recommend it!
"Outstanding, fabulous reading"
Great, great reading with such good characterization and wonderful dialects, that you forget it's being read, you are just swept away to another world.
Some other reviewers of this title had audio problems of pops and clicks and though my version had none, I have bought other Audible books with the same problems and it's really frustrating.
"Great Story, Great Narrator!"
I remember this story from grade school and loved it. This narrator brought all of the characters to life. Couldn't stop listening.
"Enoyable"
The adventure and excitement was well presented by the narrator - even the accents added to the text of the novel.
"Great fun!"
I really enjoyed listening to this audio book. I actually laughed with delight when the narrator started to talk like a pirate. What fun!
"Great Classic - Excellent Audiobook"
This great classic is a must have for any home library. The audiobook recording does justice to the original manuscript and is well told with masterful storytelling. One of my favorite audiobooks.
"A Classic, Impeccably Read"
I really enjoyed listening to this audio book, and highly recommend it. Treasure Island is clearly the archetype for most everything we think of when conjuring up pirates. Alfred Molina's narration is ideal here and I'll be looking for more of his readings.
"Alfred Molina Nails It."
Very good reading by Molina, but the audio quality (pops and stutters) is terrible in the first part. Either I got used to it or it stopped by the end of the recording. I would have rated this at 5 stars but for the audio quality.

"For listening, as in reading, again and again..."
I could not stop listening to Molina's interpretation of the book, and this is a performance more than a simple restating. Molina is at times subtle, but always consitent with characterizations. I listen to this book often. Usually on trips while driving, and it passes the time well. The story may not interest all, but Molina's performance won't be matched.
