THE GOOD
screen clarity is excellent
brightness is excellent
colors are nice and not faded
snapdragon 805 is fast (bench tested many times)
Battery life is excellent 10-15 hours watching movies BUT only 5 hours on intensive games
THE BAD
there are in fact what appears to be red dots as stated by others
- to me they actually look like a grid of very tiny pinholes (about 50 x 80 covering entire screen)
- you have to look very closely to see them ( so actually its not a problem)
I have big patch of light bleed coming from camera area (will be exchanging tablet because of that)
I have a defect on my screen that distorts when 2 fingers press within an inch of that area (reason #2 for the return)
side loaded mx player... works fine BUT must be reinstalled after watching every movie because tablet wont launch app again after playing each movie
some apps I have on my amazon cloud work intermittently...or freeze tablet...or reboot tablet unexpectedly
- these same apps work flawlessly on my Nexus 7
cant find way to change video quality of you tube videos ...appears to play only on a predetermined resolution (could be my lack of knowledge how to fix and not the Fire software problem)
screen rotation went goofy for an hour and would go upside down no matter which way I held device (then gyroscope seemed to fix it self and work properly after that)
only had 2 days so far but overall impression is beautiful tablet BUT software is very buggy compared to vanilla android on my Nexus 7
I will give it more inspection before returning so that I know what is normal for this tablet versus defective
